It’s always sad seeing a fan project get squashed by the company they are demonstrating their devotion to. I personally hope that Mane 6 is able to use the code, and most of the artwork, for some sort of parody fighting game at the very least.
My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic was a cancelled fan-made fighting game inspired by the animated television series My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. It is based on the My Little Pony Franchise, in its most recent. She suggested that they maybe try and use original characters that were not based on My Little Pony instead. MLP: Fighting is Magic is a Fan-tribute, Indie 2D fighting game, Developed by Mane6, as their first and flagship title.
Lauren Faust, the woman who developed Friendship is Magic for television shared her sympathies on her twitter, but said that Hasbro had every right to send the C&D. There is a petition to save Mane 6’s fighter which can be found here. Mane 6 is attempting to negotiate things with Hasbro, but these things rarely end well. It was bound to happen eventually, but it’s very sad. Today, Mane 6, the company behind the game, announced that they recently received a Cease and Desist from Hasbro’s lawyers. This game, My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic, had sound-a-like voice actresses, original music, and the praise of many fans who looked forward to one day playing this multi-colored pony brawler. Fighting Is Magic: Premium, sometimes shortened to just Premium (formerly as Premium Edition, 'Chocolate', 'Yogurt' and 'KitKat') is an unofficial endeavor dedicated to reviving Mane6s fighting game Fighting is Magic, as originally conceived as the fangame based on the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic TV series. A group of fans got together in 2011, and started working on a fighting game based on the TV show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
